May 25th (Day 9): Thessaloniki/Veria/Meteora

Enjoy this morning tour of Thessaloniki where Paul preached during the winter of 49-50 AD and wrote two epistles to the ancient Thessalonians. See the ramparts of the city, the triumphal Arch of Galerius straddling the Via Egnatia, once a strategic artery of the Roman Empire. Depart for Meteora Monasteries stopping on the way at Veria. In ancient times this town was known as Berea or Beroea. Paul and Silas preached here and there is a monument dedicated to Paul.
